Google Play has removed social media app “Parler” – popular among conservatives – following Twitter’s decision to ban US President Donald Trump.
Parler boasts limited moderation of its platform, allowing its users to exercise “free speech”.
The social network gained attention this week for posts that liberals allege incited violence against US lawmakers during a riot on Capitol Hill.
Apple also threatened to remove the platform if moderators did not remove all of what it deemed unacceptable content within 24 hours.
The app has garnered the support of many conservative politicians including members of the President’s family.
